Overcome the Monday Blues - Smiles are free

"Be all you can be"
"Just do it"
"Follow your dreams"
"Go for it"

We set out full of optimism, enthusiasm, and purpose.  But then at some point LIFE just gets in the way!  We get kicked in the butt, the gut, and we find ourselves knocked out and on the ground.  We look around and others seem to be doing just fine so we wonder what's wrong with us?  Life's unfair - car accidents, health problems, job loss or even our dog throwing up on the carpet can throw us into a mood of despair, disillusionment, discouragement, grief, or feelings of failure.

It is at these times that the choices we make are critical.  Will we go on, give up, or yell at those around us?

I had one of those mornings and they are no fun.  We all have them because this life has lots of trouble.  There is an old song:  "I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden, along with the sunshine there's got to be a little rain sometimes..."

So if you are feeling this way today we'll just pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and keep going.  We won't yell at the kids or our spouse because they probably don't deserve it and even if they do there are better ways to handle it.

Smile at 10 people today.  It will make you feel better and everybody else around you.  Smiles are free and they bless the giver and the receiver.  Sometimes it comes easy and sometimes it takes effort but everyday is a better day when we smile.  Try it and you'll see what I'm talking about.  Top Ten Reasons to Smile.

It's so funny, I was just thinking about this while at a drive thru tonight. I was at taco bell getting my fresco chicken taco and the person at the drive thru window had a little chat and some laughs, and it seemed to really make a difference to them. I always try to be friendly to cashiers, waitresses or whoever, and I think it makes everyone happy all around.

It's surprising that it can actually be fun once you get going and many of the worries seem to melt away.
