Want cheapskates to spend? Hawk gizmos that save - Yahoo! News

Do you need "Caps that keep the fizz in opened soda cans."?

This is a very interesting article and one that makes me scratch my head a little. Would it be a good idea to buy a gizmo that helps you squeeze the last drop out of a toothpaste tube?

And, using panty hose to help you use the last of a soap bar? Hmm.... I had never heard of that one.

The ideas for helping you save money by spending a little more money are indeed imaginative and creative. Do we need them???? What do you think?

I wouldn't spend money on that stuff. I roll the tooth paste tube from the bottom and run the handle of the tooth brush from the bottom up to really squeeze it to the top then I roll the tube up and hold it tight with a brocholli rubber band. I use the foot of old pantyhose to hold soap slivers and we use it in the "family" bathroom. Most times you can find work arounds for gadgets, so whay "spend to save"?

I agree, if you don't need it, don't buy it. I also think that it shows a good sign that businesses are at least attempting to provide products that promote savings and not waste. Maybe in the process they will come up with some good inventions.

The electric can opener has alway befuddled me. Although my guess is people buy them for convenience rather then trying to save a few pennies.

Yes, they are definately a product that took a simple idea and made it more elaborate with no added benefit. But, somebody made money manufacturing and selling them :)
