In The Trenches - Back to School Cooking - Crock Pots.

Summer is quickly coming to a close and the kids will be back in school.  What a perfect time to try something different with your cooking.  Crock pot meals are easy and can SAVE YOU MONEY.  Best of all, crock pot cooking enables you to have a sit down family meal after a busy day of work and activities.

In pondering this topic and went to the Internet to get some recipes and was amazed at just how many links there were.  It was one of those times where there was almost too much information and a person could spend hours looking and being led about the Internet superhighway. So, I did what any average person would do when they wanted cooking tips:  I contacted Betty Crocker herself.

While we're waiting for her answer I found a couple of other sources to get you started.  The links are below.  If you have a crock pot or slow cooker I can almost bet that you have a recipe book buried with the other cookbooks or in a drawer. You are probably saying to yourself, "Oh yeah, I forgot about that".  If you like flipping through the pages of a recipe book so you can see the photos (and who doesn't) the library usually has a good selection.  Amazon, eBay, and thrift stores also have recipe books.

The change in seasons is a good time to implement new strategies and ideas.  If you have a favorite crock pot recipe please feel free to list it in the comments or email it to me.  It can be posted with or without your name according to your preference.
